Tim
Cousins was born in England in 1958 and grew up in Ballarat, Australia. He was
educated at The University of Melbourne and Monash University, has recently
completed a Masters Degree at Swinburne University and has just embarked on
further Post-graduate studies in Electricity Supply Engineering. He became interested in the
field of failure analysis and disaster recovery while working in hospital
administration departments in the 1980's and set up his own consultancy in
failure analysis in 1990.
Tim has accumulated 15 years
of hands-on field experience in Post Disaster processes in large and small
businesses, consulting to Insurance companies as well as businesses affected by
a loss. In 1999 he was commissioned by a Major International Insurer, to
coordinate the technical investigation and the assessment of the adequacy of the
recovery response to any Y2K related incident that might arise as a claim from
any of the major Australian financial institutions or the numerous large
manufacturing plants in South East Asia and New Zealand amongst the insurer's
underwriting risks.
Tim has gained an
international reputation through his consulting work both here and overseas. He
has published numerous feature articles and writes a regular column in the
Insurance and Risk Professional magazine. He is sought after as a keynote
speaker by special interest groups in the business and insurance industries and
has presented at a number of international conferences, workshops and events.
